Motherhouse for the Sisters of St. Joseph
Confronted by the changing needs of an aging congregation, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester decided to sell their older, institutional facility and build a new, more residential home with state-of-the-art health care facilities.
The two-story, 156,000 sq. ft. facility provides individual rooms for 150 sisters with varying health needs. Seventy sisters live in small independent communities. Other areas, with health-care services, include Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and a Special Care Unit for those with Alzheimer's or dementia. The chapel is centrally located for use by all.
Winner of AIA Rochester Design Award - 2006.
